Scientific Overview

L-Glutamine is consumed rapidly by cultured cells as both an energy substrate (via glutaminolysis) and a precursor for nucleotide and protein biosynthesis, but it is thermally and hydrolytically unstable in aqueous solution, spontaneously degrading to ammonia and pyrrolidone carboxylic acid over time. It is therefore supplied as a concentrated frozen stock solution added fresh to base media just before use, rather than being included in the shelf-stable powdered medium formulation.

L-Glutamine Solution 200 mM is a sterile-filtered, ready-to-use cell culture supplement providing the essential amino acid L-glutamine, a major energy source and nitrogen donor required for growth of most mammalian cell lines in vitro.
